Fraunhofer in Kaiserslautern

Fraunhofer is Europe’s largest application-oriented research organization. Its research efforts are geared entirely to people’s needs: health, security, communication, energy and the environment. They are conducted by 76 institutes and research units at locations throughout Germany with more than 30.000 employees.

Joint research at a shared location

Two Fraunhofer Institutes are conducting research at the joint site in Kaiserslautern:

Mathematics and software development are not only thematically close. The two Fraunhofer Institutes also share a building in Kaiserslautern and conduct research hand in hand.

Over 700 employees from a wide variety of fields are working at the Kaiserslautern site in close proximity to the campus of the University Kaiserslautern-Landau. The close cooperation with the university makes it possible to combine applied research with an excellent scientific education – from university degree to doctorate.
